ABOUT

Welcome to the Lindiwe Educare

Established in 1983 as one of the first multi-racial preschools in South Africa, Lindiwe Educare Centre has grown to be a leading provider of caring education for children aged 12 months to 6 years. At Lindiwe we are committed to providing a warm, caring environment where your children can feel secure and happy and realise their full potential in terms of social, physical and emotional development.

Mrs Penelope Haswell, affectionately known as aunty Penny, started Lindiwe Educare in 1983. Her strong passion for educating and taking care of our country's future leaders together with her dream of establishing one of South Africa's first non-racial pre-schools.  Aunty Penny steadfastly defied apartheid laws and regulations, by simply PUTTING ALL CHILDREN FIRST. And that became our school's guiding philosophy and motto. A place for all children to learn, play and dream freely, has inspired and brought Lindiwe Educare to where we are today.

It was a tremendously sad day, when on the 27th October 2014, aunty Penny passed away. But her passion lives on at Lindiwe Educare.

Lindiwe Educare offers a structured and well-rounded programme that prepares children for the challenges of Grade 1. We have long-standing and close links with local and private schools in the area in order to facilitate the child's transition to formal schooling.

Child-Centred Environment

The environment is designed to provide for:
Outdoor Play (sand play, water play, climbing, cycling, balancing and ball play)
Creative Play (painting, dough modelling, cutting, sticking and collage)

Fantasy play ("dress up" and role play)
The class daily routine makes time for news, free play, baking, skills time, library, music and story time. Extra-mural activities include Playball, Swimming, Ballet, Nature Club, Ceramics - see under "Activities & Excursions".
